Adoption Circle - March Newsletter

It’s time to look back at the month of March.  It was a busy month with a lot to celebrate and recognize. I'd be remiss if I didn’t mention that in some parts of Ohio it appears “Spring has Sprung”! 😊   Excited to see the beginning of buds on the trees and the pretty yellow daffodils.  Summer will be here before you know it! 😊.

International Women's Day

In March we celebrated International Women’s Month.  It’s a month to recognize all the amazing women who have and continue to pave the wave for all women. Adoption Circle was founded by 5 amazing women. Our agency wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for them and our staff of women who continue to serve the adoption community.  There are so many amazing women in the adoption community which include but are not limited to social workers, nurses, adoption professionals, adoptive moms and especially all of the selfless birth mothers who choose adoption plans for their child. In her own words we would like to share the feelings Emily shared about her birth daughter, Emma.

21 years ago on March 29th I gave Emma to a wonderful family who raised her as their own. I had many regrets and lots of troubled water after walking out of that hospital without her. A lot of birth mothers I'm sure went through the same. I no longer carry regret or anger on my decision. Due to it was my choice, and regardless of the legal part of it, Emma got a chance to live beautifully, so nothing else matters to me. She will finally have the opportunity to reach out to me when she's ready and of course on her terms. I've done everything to heal from life before and after her, and I am still on that journey. Not a day has ever gone by that I didn't think of my beautiful rosey baby girl . I love her with my entire heart and I want Adoption Circle to understand I appreciate you never changing your phone number and answering my calls every year. I have screamed and kicked at you for many years and I hope you can forgive me for doing that. I was a hurt woman.  With a lot I needed to heal from. Thank you for giving my daughter a beautiful family who did wonderful things for her and her life.  I love them so very much and I wouldn’t have survived this journey without them doing what they did for all of us, that’s loving Emma.  Thank you again.

In March we also celebrated Social Work Month.  This is a month that is near and dear to our hearts because we have such a wonderful staff of social workers. Please go to our staff page, https://www.adoptioncircle.org/about-us/meet-staff/, to read and learn more about our wonderful social workers.

March also brought us Down Syndrome Awareness day on March 21st . World Down Syndrome Day is marked each year on March 21.  The 21st day of March (the 3rd month of the year) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.

Every year on March 21, World Down Syndrome Day is observed to create awareness about Down Syndrome. It is a condition in which a child is born with an extra(3) 21st chromosome.

Our  cute little Miss Hadlee is rocking her 3/21 shirt in honor of World Down Syndrome Day.

March was also National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. During the month of March, individuals living with cerebral palsy, as well as family members and activists, come together to advocate for the cerebral palsy community. Miss Larken looking beautiful as always.  This young lady is a warrior and does not let cerebral palsy slow her down and prevent her from accomplishing her goals.  We are so proud of you Larken.

Tax day is almost here!

As tax day draws near, we wanted to share a link with you from National Council for Adoption about adoption tax credits and common questions.  As always, we suggest you consult with an account for adoption tax credit questions. Click here!

From the desk of the Birth Parents Director, Kim.

The March book club was postponed until April 25th.   The two books that will be discussed are:   Through Adopted Eyes: A Collection of Memoirs From Adoptees and Through Adopted Hearts: A collection of Memoirs From Birth and Adoptive Parents.  We hope you can join the next book club meeting.  Please email Kim@adoptioncircle.org for more details, or to obtain the video link information for the meeting.

As always we are excited to connect with you.  If you don’t follow us on our social media accounts (FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter), please do so.  We post several times throughout the month! 😊
