Adoption Circle December 2024 Newsletter

December has ended and a new year has begun! We did it! We survived AND THE BUCKEYES WON 😊 Before we know it the children will return to school and normal routines will resume. Christmas day and the first night of Hanukkah was unseasonably warm, but the promise of cold weather and snow makes some of us excited. With the beginning of a new year many are apt to make resolutions to be their best selves. Just a reminder – you don’t have to make resolutions or huge decisions or big proclamations. You can simply set some good intentions and take each day as it comes.

December was a flurry of activities. In between dressing your child as the Grinch, wearing PJs to school and bringing a book to share with a friend, the Adoption Circle staff members were able to take some time to celebrate the blessings we experienced this year. We were able to enjoy a meal and celebrate the season. We had two adoption placements which I’m sure made the holidays extra special for those two families, and three families finalized adoptions. Do you follow us on social media? If not, please consider doing so. We love to post with pride how we assist parents in growing their families.

December birthdays are super special!!! We had several little ones celebrate their birthdays this past month. DOUBLE THE PRESENTS!! Happiest First Birthday to Rikki and Xavier.

January is often thought of as a long, boring month. We completely disagree. There is so much to look forward to. January is National Hobby Month and National Blood donor month. We celebrate MLK day on January 20th and January is when the Chinese New Year begins. The month of January offers us the opportunity to teach our children about other cultures, honoring past achievements for racial equality, helping others and exploring new interests.

Adoption Learning Partners is a resource for adoptive families. Remember those awesome classes you took to fulfill the educational requirement for your home study? In the month of January, they are offering an on-demand webinar Growing Up Adopted: What parents need to know.

This webinar has a panel of adoptees that have a candid conversation about being adopted, how it felt to be different from their friends, what their parents did right and what they wished their parents did differently. The cost is $10 and we promise it will be worth your time.

A NOTE FROM THE BIRTH PARENT SERVICES DIRECTOR………..

A very special note of gratitude to ALL of you that made Christmas incredibly special for so many children. The toy drive is a labor of love that has been serving our birth families for 28 years. We accept donations all year long. If you see a toy you want to donate but don’t want to store at your house until next December? No problem!!!! I have a large basement 😊. Serving birth families is a privilege. So many of our clients struggle with poverty, domestic violence and addiction. These struggles make it challenging for birth parents to provide the “extras” for the children they are parenting. Seeing the faces of these children as they experience the magic of your generosity is heartwarming. Please consider supporting the Adoption Circle toy drive this year! We need you. You can reach out to me anytime throughout the year at Kim@adoptioncircle.org.

We are looking forward to seeing what the month of December brings. If you don’t already feel free to follow us on social media. FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter
