Adoption Circle - November Newsletter 2024

Well as expected, the frigid Ohio temperatures have arrived. Along with below freezing temperatures and snow in some parts of the state. We can’t complain too much because we enjoyed 80 degree temperatures well into October, so now it’s time to bundle up!! It is time to look back at the events in November, the month in review.

NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH

November was National Adoption Month. Adoption is about much more than achieving legal permanency. It's about building connections that provide support and a sense of belonging for young people throughout their lives. Adoption Circle was founded in 1991. We have worked with thousands of birthparents, adoptive parents and children. The Mission and Philosophy of the agency has always been to serve the adoption community in a professional and ethical manner. It is the agency’s belief that birthparents have the ultimate responsibility to make parenting decisions for their children. Adoption should be a parenting decision that birthparents make for their children after considering all of their options, free of pressure and coercion from all potential sources. Adoption Circle believes that if adoption is the choice for children and their parents, it should be facilitated by professionals who realize that adoption is a life-long process. Being licensed for over 30 years, our agency has seen first hand that the adoption story does not stop once a child is placed with their adoptive parents. It is just the beginning. It is a life-long process of birth parents thinking about the child they placed for adoption, wanting information, maybe even wanting contact with their birth child. It is the beginning of adoptive parents learning how to parent their child and making sure their child is aware of their adoption story. It’s answering the questions their child may have, and this is a lifelong process. It is the adoptee seeking information about their birth parent(s) or their birth family history. The calls our agency have received over the years from birth parents who have placed, adoptive parents parenting children who are now teens or older, or adult adoptees just seeking more information, are an indication adoption is a lifelong process. Adoption Circle will continue to serve the community in a professional, ethical manner, and be there for the adoption triad to provide the support needed and requested. We are honored to continue to be part of the adoption community for over 30 years and we recognize National Adoption Awareness Month!

World Kindness Day and Thanksgiving

November 13th was World Kindness Day. If you missed out on “being kind” that day, remember it’s something you can do on a daily basis. You would be amazed to see how your kindness can and will impact others. It can be as simple as smiling when you pass by a stranger, holding a door open for somebody whose hands are full, or just paying for drive thru order for the next car up. It doesn’t hurt to be kind all year long.

We also celebrated Thanksgiving recently. This is the time of year to reflect and be thankful for everything in our life—big and small. Adoption Circle is thankful for all our families, babies (big and small) and all the birthparents we have worked with over the years.

A NOTE FROM THE BIRTH PARENT SERVICES DIRECTOR

Hi Again! THANK-YOU so much to all the families and individuals who have donated so far, so Adoption Circle and the elves can provide Christmas Magic to birthparents and the children they are parenting. We are hoping to surpass last year’s efforts. Since Giving Tuesday was a few days ago, please consider donating to this worthy effort. No donation is too small. We are accepting toys, stockings, candy and small comfort items for moms. Donations of time, cash or items are all valuable. Please reach out to kim@adoptioncircle.org to explore how you can make some magic this holiday season. You can also DONATE at any time.

We are looking forward to seeing what the month of December brings. If you don’t already feel free to follow us on social media.  FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter
