We can’t believe July is over and we are moving into August. We definitely are in the “dog days of summer” and the temperature reflects that. Even though the heat and humidity can be unbearable at times, we still had a chance to enjoy and celebrate fun July activities. It’s time to take a look back to the month of July.
July 4th Celebrations
In July many had Independence Day Celebrations. We always love seeing our little ones enjoying parades and fun summertime activities.
Did you know?
As we enjoy the Olympics, it’s hard not to be in awe of Simone Biles. She is the GOAT and is the most decorated US gymnast in Olympic history. But did you know that Simone and her siblings were adopted? Born here in Columbus, Ohio, Simone has been very open about the struggles her biological parents experienced and how she was in the foster care system. Simone was adopted by her maternal grandfather and his wife. After her grandparents adopted her and her sister, they became her parents and Simone credits her mom and dad for who she is today.
Simone works with Friends of the Children to expand to her hometown in Houston, Texas. The organization was funded 30 years ago. Friends of the Children nurtures long-term relationships with foster youth to help them discover their life’s purpose and realize their potential. Each foster youth is matched with a mentor or friend for 12 years. Supports such as Friends of the Children helped Simone overcome her own challenges and become an elite athlete. We recognize the GOAT who also just happens to be an advocate for foster care and adoption
Finalizations
Congratulations to our families who finalized in the month. We are always excited to see the smiles on faces once adoptions are legally finalized.
